The Sounds of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride

Thanks for coming back for our second installment in our "The Sounds of" series of blog posts. This time around comes one of our favorite Disney sequels of all time, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. Though it isn't as good as the first one, The Lion King II still has a special place in all of our hearts. There is no denying that this film had some classic music, that even if you hated the film with all your heart, you couldn't come out hating the music as well.

There was never an official soundtrack that coincided with the release of the actual film, but there was an audio CD that contained all the songs from the movie, as well as other songs written by Lebo M., that released on September 8, 1998. Here is the list of the songs that appeared on that CD, "Return to Pride Rock: Songs Inspired by Disney's The Lion King II: Simba's Pride"
The Lion King II's VHS Cover

1. "He Lives in You"
2. "We Are One"
3. "Upendi"
4. "One of Us"
5. "My Lullaby"
6. "Love Will Find a Way"
7. "We Are One"

8. "She Believes in You"
9. "Song for the Children"
10. "I Want to See the Moon"
11. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"
12. "Love Will Find a Way" (End Title)

Once again that is one heck of a list of songs. They aren't better than The Lion King's songs that is for sure, but that's not to say that they aren't close. Personally my favorite would have to be "Love Will Find a Way", so as you can see I am a real sucker for those love songs. I would have to ask Chris on what his favorite song, if he even has any. I have heard him sing songs from this film a lot though, secretly we all know that he is a huge fan of The Lion King II. What are your favorite songs? Leave a comment down below, we would love to hear from you.

Hope that you enjoyed this blog post, and we're happy that we are once again back on track. Please take a couple seconds to vote in our poll as we will be using that information for all our future work. The Sounds of The Lion King

We all know that The Lion King is hands down Disney's best animated film to date. But it would have not received that title if it weren't for it's amazing soundtrack. It is hard to think about The Lion King without having names like Elton John, Tim Rice, and Hans Zimmer come to mind. Now there were more people involved in creating the masterpiece that is the music found in The Lion King, but those are just some of the few people that come to mind at first thought. There is no doubt that without their contribution to this film, The Lion King would have not been successful as it is.

Here is a list of the songs listed on The Lion King's Soundtrack:
First theatrical poster for The Lion King

(Standard Edition)
1. "Circle of Life"
2. "I Just Can't Wait to Be King"
3. "Be Prepared"
4. "Hakuna Matata"
5. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"
6. "This Land"
7. "...To Die For"
8. "Under the Stars"
9. "King of Pride Rock"
10. "Circle of Life"
11. "I Just Can't Wait to Be King"
12. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight (End Title)"

(Special Edition Tracks)
13. "The Morning Report"
14. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight (Remix)"

That is one heck of a list there. That's why when asked what our favorite song is it takes us a while to come up with an answer. That may actually be why we haven't made a video on this subject yet, ha.

Can you feel the love?
As of now it wouldn't be the right time to let you know what our favorite tracks are from that list, but if you'd like a hint to one just look at which one appears the most. Did you figure it out yet? Could that be our favorite song in The Lion King? You'll have to wait and find out when we make a video on this very emotional and touchy subject.

We would like to hear your opinion on things too! What is your favorite song from The Lion King Soundtrack, and why? Don't forget to leave a comment on our previous post, "Got Quetions?", to have any of your questions that you have for us answered in our soon to be filmed ChrisCrossMail segment. Also please vote on our poll, located on the right hand side of the page now, it only takes a quick second. We can't wait to answer all of your questions tonight! Have a great rest of your day, or night if you're on the other side of the planet, and you have just been ChrisCrossed!

The basic plot for The Lion King, as provided on the back of the BluRay, is an extraordinary coming-of-age adventure as Simba, a lion cub who cannot wait to be king, searches for his destiny in the great “Circle of Life”.

The Lion King Month

"The king...has returned." Good afternoon everyone! If you haven't heard by now we are going to be doing a Lion King themed month for this September. There are so many things that we could do for this theme, and the ideas that are flowing are just mind boggling. You can be expecting many of our "ChrisCross" videos of the past including Lookbacks, ChrisCrossMails, Movies in under 90 seconds, Movie Reviews, and more! That's not to say that we won't be trying new things, and revisit some older ideas as well.

This month has started a little later than usual, but that's ok. We'd like to start off this month by explaining when exactly all our other months from now on will begin. This Lion King month was planned to begin this Monday, which would have been the first Monday of September, but was held back due to Chris' huge amount of work that went into his latest animation for ChrisCrossMedia. (Link down below) Hope that clears up most of the confusion you may have had. To sum it up, all our ChrisCrossMedia months will begin on the first Monday of that month, so it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be the 1st of the month.

There isn't much more that can be said without spoiling all our goodies for this month. Hope you all are excited as much as we are for this month. We really do have many great videos that we would love to share with you all, so please stay tuned on here, Facebook, Twitter, and especially YouTube. Leave your comments on here with any video ideas that you'd like to see us tackle. Thanks once again, and you have just been ChrisCrossed!

Disney Epic Mickey Review!

___________________________________________

  (12/8/2010) 5:27 PM...By: Chris

On Novermeber 30th, Disney Interactive Studios and Junction Point released the highly anticipated game, Disney Epic Mickey!  This game has already won several awards for various things, including it's unique gamestyle, and overal story.  Being the BIG Disney fan I am, I have been anticipating this game for a very very long time.

Disney Epic Mickey: Collector's Edition

I remember hearing about this game for almost two years, and just wondering what it would all be about.  Seeing the concept art for the first time got me so excited, and then hearing that you would play as Mickey Mouse had me really really excited!  But the BIGGEST excitement was when I heard that the Legendary Warren Spector would be working on the game!

Warren Spector, Director or Disney Epic Mickey

Warren Spector is known for his award winning games such as Deus Ex and the Ultima series, and he is notorious for being a HUGE Disney/Mickey Mouse fan!  What I loved is that he truly understands Mickey Mouse...who is is, what are his motives, and how he SHOULD act!  Mickey Mouse has been potrayed as a mascot for the Disney Company for the past 80 years, and hasn't prominately been the star of a story for almost two decades.  Spector knew he had to bring Mickey Mouse back to his roots, and give him his retro look!

Mickey Mouse's "retro" look for Disney Epic Mickey

When I was finally able to get my hands on this game, after all the hype the past 4 months from E3, and other various sources, I was so excited!  Without giving away too much of the plot and story; you play as Mickey Mouse who is thrown into this world called the Wasteland.  The Wasteland is a world were all the forgotten and rejected Disney characters and designs live. (it's basically a shadow of the Magic Kingdom from the Disney Parks)  Mickey spilled paint and thinner into this world by mistake, creating the Phantom Blot!  The Phantom Blot causes havic and destroys the world were many characters live, such as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Mickey Mouse's older/jealous brother.

Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was Walt Disney's first success!  Oswald was a lot like Mickey Mouse in many many ways....He would fight an arch nemisis, cause some trouble, and gets the girl!  But in 1928, when Walt went to Universal to renew his contract with them, they kicked Walt to the curb and stole all of his animators.  Walt need soemthing to get back on his feet... Mickey Mouse was born, and the rest is history!
So ya, Oswald is pretty jealous of Mickey Mouse.  Mickey is living the life he was supposed to have.  Mickey is confronted by Oswald when you enter the Wasteland, and this is really when the story unfolds.  I really don't want to give too much away of the story.  It's really something you have to play for yourself...especially because there are multiple endings!

Concept Art from Disney Epic Mickey

I have yet to beat Disney Epic Mickey... I am actually on the last boss level, and let me tell you...WHAT A BOSS LEVEL!  It is so awesome!  I love it!  I can seriously say it is one of my favorite boss levels in ANY game!  It's so cool and you really use your paint and thinner here, trust me.  Check out our quick video look/review of Disney Epic Mickey!  I personally give the game 5/5 stars...I love everything about it, and it truly is a pleasure to play...Here's hoping for a sequel!

'Disney Tangled' Review!

___________________________________________
(11/24/2010) 10:00PM...By: Chris

A few hours ago, Christian and I got back from our local movie theater after extremly enjoying Disney's 50th Animated Movie, TANGLED!  What can we say about this movie?  Disney is BACK!  Both being 19 years of age, we grew up viewing such classics like, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King (just to name a few)...During this time, it was crowned the "Golden Age of Disney Animation"  Disney continued to produce fantastic fully animated movies for the next decade but then the studio drastically changed.  The CEO of Disney at the time, Michael Eisner, chose to close Disney's hand drawn department and demanded the studio concentrate on 3D Anmated movies, as opposed to the traditional Hand Drawn movies (something Disney perfected for almost 7 decades.)
The qualities of the movies to follow this change proved that this was not the right move for Disney.  Movies like Chicken Little, Meet the Robinson's, and Bolt, lacked the charm and look that Disney established.  This was until Eisner was kickeed out, Iger was put in, and John Lasseter was put in charge of Disney Animation!  Lasseter is best known for being the head honcho over at PIXAR and directing such classic as Toy Story and A Bugs Life!
With these new changes in the studio, Lasseter and Iger stressed that Disney needed to return to it's roots of handmade animation with great characters and story!  With that said, Princess and the Frog was born!  I can truly say that after I saw Princess and the Frog, I felt like a kid watching Aladdin or The Lion King for the first time!  It was fantastic and a return to great animated story telling...it had music, story, great art...everything you need to make a Classic Disney Story!  I was so excited about this movie, but before I can say the "Disney Was Back" I wanted to find out if Disney could keep it up.  Could Disney continue to produce great movies? or was this great movie it?
  My answer?  Yes...DISNEY IS BACK!

Although Tangled is not a hand drawn movie, the animators did something special with the animation!  Although the characters are 3D models, the textures on the characters, backgrounds, objects were hand drawn and painted on the computer...and let me tell you, Disney developed something amazing here!  The blending of 3D animtion and Hand drawn animation looks amazing!  It looked and felt like a Classic Disney Movie!!  Also, the music....Again something that was lacking in Chicken Little, Meet the Robinson's, and Bolt...But the music in Tangled was fantastic!  Returning Genius, Alan Menken, produces the music for Tangled!

The story was greatly developed and the characters had depth and had great back stories.  You actually cared about the characters and felt a connection to them.  Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore, voices of Flynn Rider and Rapunzel, did a fantastic job giving these two characters life!  Like we say in our video review, these to characters are strong, fun characters that boy/men, girls/women can relate too!

So if you cant tell, we really LOVED this movie!  Go watch it in 3D too...It was wonderfully done and it really gives the movie depth!   So we give Disney Tangled 5/5 Stars!  A+!!  100%!!!  Go see it, your gunna love it!!

Also check out our NEW video about Mickey Mouse's History in videogames!!  With the release of Disney's Epic Mickey coming Novemeber 30th, we got curious about what other games Mickey Mouse has appeared in. To our surprise, Mickey Mouse has been on the earliest of consoles for over three decades on over 30 games! Not only is Mickey fun to play on the 8-bit or digital screen, but he is also one of the biggest movie stars of all time!

Mickey Mouse was created by Walt Disney in 1928, with his debut cartoon 'Steamboat Wille', an he was a smash hit! Mickey was the very first voice cartoons of it's time. Not only did Mickey have a voice, but he also had personality and spunk. These qualities connected more with the audiences, and helped contributed to the massive sucess of todays icon.

Jump 70 or so years later and we have the emergence of videogames! Mickey and videgames are no brainer! If you have any doubt, look up a classic Mickey Mouse cartoon 'Building a Building'! Mickey appeared on the earliest of consoles such as the NES and the Master System. Mickey Mouse has appeared in pretty much any genre of videogaming, such as platforming, 3D platforming, action adventure, puzzle, racing, and more! So Mickey is no stranger videogames!

With Disney's Epic Mickey coming soon, we can only expect great things from this game! The creator of the game, Warren Spector, seems to truly understand the character of Mickey Mouse. We can see from the footage and gamplay shown that Mickey Mouse is taken back to his fisty roots!

Also in the video is a FUN promo for our shirts!  Check it out now! (click for video here)
