Throwback Thursday

Hello there everyone! Thank you for stopping by today for ChrisCrossMedia’s first segment of Throwback Thursday, where we look at classics from our childhood and reveal them for all of you to enjoy.

Since this week has been a week of firsts here on the blog, I felt like making a post on my first game that I ever played. What’s funny is that this game is probably A LOT of people’s first game. And that alone is special to me in itself knowing that there are millions of people in the world that I have something in common with. And that game is the world phenomenon, Super Mario Bros.

As most of us should know, Super Mario Bros. turned 25 just last year, and it still is the best-selling Mario game of all time! So much has been said about this game that it would feel repetitive to talk about it again. And because of that I feel it would be more new and unique for me to share a personal story about the game with you, and maybe later on you will be inspired to do the same.

I may have said this before on a video or on a live stream, but as I mentioned before Super Mario Bros. is the first game that I EVER played. My uncle arrived from Mexico and brought his childhood possession, the Nintendo Entertainment System, which at the time was very alien to me. I was only three years old when I had my first experience with Mario. I still remember World 1-1 like it was yesterday…oh yeah…It’s because I played yesterday. Running, jumping, eating mushrooms, smashing Goombas, and sliding down flag poles, all of which are elements from Mario that are still seen in recent games today. My uncle also taught me a lot of glitches, most of which I still use today and try to teach to Chris from time to time. There are countless glitches! Some let you warp through levels, others let you go through walls, and some even allow you to jump over the flag pole. But my all-time favorite has to be the “Infinite Life” glitch on World 3-1. Those turtles on the steps sure got a beating. Super Mario Bros. will always have a special place in my heart, and it will always be regarded to me as the best game of all time. Long live Mario, and long live Nintendo.

Thanks for reading my story. I hope it didn’t bore you to death. I’m sure that all of you have a story to share with your experience of Super Mario Bros. So please leave a comment down below and share a story, after all we do all have something in common.
