Hello there and thanks for stopping by today for our last blog of the week! Every Friday we will have our “Friday Night Flix” segments, where we go over the movies that premiere today. For our first segment today we will focus mainly on one movie, but as the summer blockbusters come out there will be more content.
Rio takes place 15 years after the abandoning of a now near extinct species of birds, the macaw. Blu the macaw was abandoned and found as a baby bird by Linda. Linda named the macaw Blu because of his blue color. Because Blu was kept as a pet for so long he never learned to fly, and that would play a large part in the movie. A scientist later came to Linda and let her know that Blu was one of the last two of its species left, and that Blu had to be shipped out to Rio de Janiro, Brazil to find a mating partner. Blu is then immediately shipped to Rio, where he finds his new love interest, Jewel, the second of the last two macaw known to exist.
Blu falls in love at first sight, but unfortunately Jewel wants nothing to do with Blu. Will Jewel ever become interested in Blu? Will Blu ever learn to fly? And more importantly, will this species have a chance to survive? Go out to a theater near you and watch Rio to find out!
Hope you liked the teaser for Rio provided, and if you have watched the movie already then please leave your review in the comments below. Followed here are just some “Honorable Mentions” of movies that also came out today.
