Super Smash Links

By now most of you have watched our series of challenges that we have done on YouTube using Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo Gamecube. We have been getting some hate by viewers asking us to play Brawl, let's just say that it's time will come, so please be patient on that. There have been some interesting things that Chris and I said randomly in the video that are worthy to talk about on a blog post. Today I'm only going to be focusing on just one though.

In one of the videos we talked about which Link/s we would like to see in the future Super Smash Bros. game that Nintendo promised us at this years' E3. We would both love to see Young Link back in the game. Many people will argue and say that he's already been reintroduced to the game as Toon Link, but we feel that there are many differences between the two characters that set them apart. Apart from Young Link, we think that it would be awesome to have every single 3D Link that was ever created to be in the game. We know that it's probably too much to ask for, but being that the Super Smash Bros. is one of the all time best selling Nintendo franchises of all time, we think they should do it.

But if for some reason Nintendo decides to not let our dreams come true, and only decides to allow two Links, which has been the tradition for the past two games, what would you want them to be?

The Legend of Link?

I'm sure this has happened to a lot of you many many times. You're with your friends and you're talking to them about this cool game that you have fallen in love with, The Legend of Zelda. All is going well, and they are contributing to the conversation, but then you notice that they start referring to Zelda as a male in green tights, a sword and shield bearing boy, a blond teenager, etc...

There are many people out there 'till this day that still believe that the protagonist in The Legend of Zelda games is a boy named Zelda. Well at least they get one out of the two right, because the protagonist of the series is a boy, but his name isn't Zelda. We all know that his real name is Link, and if you're a fan of the series I'm sure that you have had to correct a lot of people on this topic. The minute that you tell them that Zelda is actually the princess in the game that you have to save, and that Link is the main hero, you see a shocked look on their face. But what happens to the people that know of both Zelda and Link, but just don't know what role they each play in the franchise?

The main reason that we bring this up is to ask you if you feel that this misconception leads people away from the series if they have never played it before. I'm sure by know, unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Zelda is the girl and that Link is the boy. But we're sure that there is still a small percentage of people that just don't know the main story arc of these games.

Our question to you is, do you think that there are people who won't play the games just because they assume that they will be playing with a princess as the hero? It would be funny to find out that the people that  don't play Zelda games for that reason play Metroid games. Imagine the look on their faces when they find out that Samus Aran is actually a girl. And a second question. Would you mind if they changed the name to The Legend of Link? Leave your answers down below. And as always, you have just been ChrisCrossed!
