NBA Jam - Throwback Thursday

Hello how is everyone doing? As some of you may know I am a huge basketball fan, and an even bigger Chicago Bulls fan! With the Heat's amazing win yesterday at home over the Celtics the playoffs are now in full force. Tonight the Bulls will face off with the Hawks in Atlanta for a chance to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, something that the Bulls haven't done since the Michael Jordan Era. If the Bulls pull off this Game 6 win over the Hawks then they will face the Heat for games of the epic proportion.

Well enough about my love and passion for the Chicago Bulls, let's get to the business of what this day's blog is all about. Today on Throwback Thursday I bring you my favorite basketball game of all time, NBA Jam. I remember playing this game as a kid, but never did I know that it would later become an all time classic. This 2 on 2 arcade style of gaming was never seen before in the sport genre and that is what set it apart. The graphics were amazing for it's time, and the music always had you pumped up and into the game.

One of the most memorable elements of the game had to be the sound effects. The announcer for the game would shout out things like: "On fire!", "From downtown!", and "BOOM Shakalaka!", to name a few. You would never have boring moments with this game. All you needed was one friend and you would be good to go, because you could play this game for hours! I was really excited when I heard that the game would be remade for the newer generation consoles. I couldn't wait to get a hold of it. Unfortunately to this day I still don't own the remake because I ran out of money that I could spend on video games. I plan on eventually going out to give it a try, but I know that I will always love the SNES classic.

If you haven't played this game then you could probably find a copy online on sites such as eBay, or on the Wii's Virtual Console, if they ever release it on there. Or if you have an iDevice, such as an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad you can download it from the App Store. And if you are trying to become a super fan of the game then just go out and buy it for the Wii, 360, or the PS3...wait...don't buy it on the PS3, the Playstation Network is still down. :P

Hope you really liked today's article, because I really enjoyed going back in time to bring back these memories. If you know another fan of NBA Jam then point them to this article so I could see what their opinion is on the game. Leave a comment down below if you have ever played this game and what you thought of it.. See you tomorrow. I'm Christian and you have just been ChrisCrossed! Peace!

Let's Go Bulls!

  1. In my opinion Jordan will always be the best basketball player. Koby Bryant is probably the best player in the NBA right now. As for Lebron James I never really liked him. The guy is a good ball player but his attitude bugs me. SO in shor 1),2),3), Jordan 4) Koby Bryant and... 5) Lebron James
